This painting should stimulate wisdom, delicacy, attractiveness, humor, sobriety, bravery for adventures and developing oratory skills in the observer and in the space it is displayed in. According to Harish Johari in the Vedic numerology Mercury is attributed to the number 5. On the personal level 5 is the psychic number of people born on day 5, 14 or 23 of any month. This mandala is appropriate to anyone attracted to it, born on those days or wishing to harmonize or strengthen the Mercury element in their personality. Ganesh is the remover of obstacles and helps to create harmony and ease in ones life. I combined his yantra with a mandala design made from an ancient number grid named the Vedic square, choosing the number 3, which is connected to Mercury. Ganesha‘s yantra works in this painting as a mediator for harmonizing the personal energies with the universal energy of Mercury. Mercury as the smallest planet has a changeable character, an ever youthful and princely nature. It is neutral in gender and is related to the respiratory system, the nervous system, speech, education and intelligence. It is regarded as a benefic and auspicious planet, which element is the Earth. Its influence is one of wisdom, delicacy, attractiveness, humor, adventurous nature and being an orator. Mercury’s colours are said to be emerald, all shades of green, turquoise, light shades of brown, smoky gray and white and this is the overall feeling from the colours I have chosen as well. During the whole process of creation I have chanted and charged this painting with the Mercury mantra. I applied for it the “wash”-technique by the Tantric artist Harish Johari and the above information about the Vedic numerology is based on his book Numerology (1990).
